AllianzGI expands macro-unconstrained fixed income team with two hires

AllianzGI’s macro-unconstrained team will announce the hiring of one additional macro portfolio manager in the coming weeks.

Allianz Global Investors has hired Gaurav Saroliya and Joe Pak as portfolio managers for a macro-constrained fixed income team.

Saroliya was recently responsible for Oxford Economics’ macro strategy and strategist at Lombard Street Research. He was previously a sell-side macro strategist and spent five years at the beginning of his career helping manage an absolute return bond fund at UBP. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of York and will attend on July 1st.

Participating from Rothesay Life, the UK’s largest annuity insurance specialist, Pak was the lead portfolio manager for the € 2 billion European Peripheral Fixed Income portfolio and the company’s macro absolute return portfolio launched in 2019.

He has extensive experience trading in derivatives, both in Rothesay and in his previous position as a trader at RBS’s US Rate Options Desk. He will be appointed Co-Lead Portfolio Manager for the Allianz Bond Macro Fund.

Park will also be appointed Co-Deputy Manager of the Allianz Strategic Bond Fund and, given his rate background, will be Deputy Manager of Allianz Giltorid. He graduated from Duke University with a degree in Economics and Sociology and will attend in August.
