Army Sergeant Convicted of Killing Black Lives Matter Protester During George Floyd Riot
Austin, Texas jury found Army Sergeant guilty uber Murderous driver after he brandished an AK-47 and shot black lives matter Protesters during the period George Floyd 2020 summer riots.
Daniel Perry, 37 He said he killed Garrett Foster, 28, in self-defense.
After eight days of hearing, the jury deliberated for 17 hours over two days and reached a decision. He sobbed and hugged his lawyer when the guilty verdict was read out.

Perry was driving a rideshare vehicle in downtown Austin on July 25, 2020, and found himself in the middle of a BLM protest.

Daniel Perry, a 37-year-old Uber driver and Army Sergeant, was found guilty of murder on Friday.

Defense attorneys said Foster held up an AK-47 at Perry and Perry fired in self-defense.
Witnesses said during the trial that Foster never raised a rifle at Perry.
On Friday, a jury found Perry guilty of murder but acquitted of aggravated assault.
Perry’s defense attorney argued in closing arguments that he had no choice but to shoot Foster five times when he approached Perry’s car with an AK-47 rifle.
Prosecutors said Perry had many options, including driving off before firing the revolver.
Prosecutor Guillermo Gonzalez said Perry’s posts on social media showed he was vehemently opposed to protesters.
Perry also said that in Texas you can get away with shooting them.
Perry’s phone calls showed he had been texting the woman just before his 9:51 p.m. meeting with Foster.
A woman he wanted to meet texted him asking for money, Gonzalez said.
“This is an old story about a man who couldn’t control his anger,” Gonzalez said.
“This is not a police issue, it is not a protester issue.”

Foster was a frequent participant in BLM protests and was armed with an AK-47 when he was killed.

Gonzalez said Perry angrily drove into the crowd even though he could clearly see the protesters marching from three different angles.
The state claimed Perry jumped into the crowd, but that was challenged by expert witnesses for the defense who used science and data to track the speed of his vehicle. He testified that his car was slowing down at the demonstration.
Perry’s defense, Doug O’Connell, said prosecutors wanted jurors to “make them believe[Perry had this evil plan when he made the right turn”].
“Protesters knew nothing about Perry when they attacked and boxed up the car,” he said.
“And Daniel had no choice. It could happen to anyone.”
O’Connell claimed Foster was wearing combat-appropriate clothing at the protest, including wearing a neoprene vest under a T-shirt and carrying an AK-47, club, and knife.
Perry wore a T-shirt, shorts, and flip-flops.
“Garrett Foster is dressed for war,” said O’Connell.
“Daniel Perry is dressed appropriately for the beach.”
