Former Arsenal striker Eduardo makes bold Premier League prediction

Arsenal are capable of winning the Premier League title within the next five years. That is the bold prediction of former Gunners striker Eduardo.

After a torrid start to the campaign, the north London outfit are eyeing a return to the Champions League following a six-year absence, although they could face stiff competition from bitter rivals to secure a top-four spot.

Mikel Arteta – who lifted the FA Cup in his first season in charge – is desperate to help get Arsenal back among Europe’s elite, although they may need serious investment to bridge the gap to Manchester City and Liverpool.

There are a few issues to be resolved, including whether to hand Alexandre Lacazette a new deal. Bringing in a top striker should also be a priority this summer for Gunners chiefs after letting Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang join Barcelona in the January transfer window.

While the Gunners seem to be quite far off from challenging for the title at the moment, Eduardo thinks things will change sooner rather than later.

When asked for his thoughts, Eduardo said: “Mikel deserves all the credit he gets. It’s very hard to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool, but they’re right up there behind these two as one of the best sides in the division right now.

“Man City have a dangerous combination of a lot of money and the top coach in the world, while Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp have built a really strong squad. But that’s taken a few years.

“I’m confident that Arteta – a fresh coach with new and exciting ideas – can replicate the success of 1998 and 2004 by turning this team into title winners in the next five years. I believe Arsenal can win the Premier League in the next five years.”

The Gunners are a team in transitionand while there may be some calling for Arteta to leave, they have to be careful with what they wish for, as things turned quickly sour after Arsene Wenger left the Emirates four years ago.

As far as the Premier League is concerned, this is set to be one of the most enthralling finishes to a campaign. Indeed, there are still three issues to be decided – the title, the top-four race, as well as the relegation battle.

With the league set to go right down to the wire, you will notice that the best betting sites will be well stocked with a wide range of outright markets, such as the top four, and generally the closer you get to the end of a given season, odds will shorten or lengthen depending on what is happening on the pitch.

Of course, the Gunners still have a way to go before they start competing for the title. While there have been some wretched results this term, they appear to be heading in the right direction, and the fans must keep faith in the Arteta project.
