Police confirmed that the body had not yet been identified.

They called on anyone with information to come forward to assist with the investigation.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Police said: “Police officers were at the scene of an incident last night in the Horsefair Lane area of ​​Newent in the Forest of Dean.

“Just after 10pm, the police were called, a fire broke out and an ambulance was present.

“The caravan was found on fire and one person has been confirmed dead. No formal identification has yet been made and the death is being treated as unexplained.

“A police investigation is underway to find out what happened.”
