The late Brandon Lee’s family expressed fear after cinematographer Harina Hutchins was shot dead.
Harina, 42, was accidentally shot with a prop gun by actor Alec Baldwin on Thursday. He died as a result of her injury.
The death occurred 28 years after actor Brandon, the son of famous actor Bruce Lee, died when a shooting stunt failed while filming Crow in North Carolina.
After Harina’s death, Brandon’s official Twitter page, run by her sister Shannon Lee, issued a statement dealing with the case.
“Our heart is directed at the Harina Hutchins family, Joel Sousa, and everyone involved in the Rust case. You will never be killed by a gun in a movie set. Period.”
In Brandon’s case, he filmed a scene of Crow whose character was shot and killed by a thug when he was shot in the stomach with a prop gun.
The actor who shot the gun believed it was filled with blanks, but later it became clear that fragments of a dummy barrel remained on the barrel of the gun.
Brandon was rushed to surgery after being shot, but despite hours of surgery, the 28-year-old couldn’t be saved.
Harina’s death took place on Thursday in the set of New Mexico’s next movie, Rust.
Film director Joel Sousa was also allegedly injured as a result of the shooting and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Sheriff Santafe’s department confirmed that actor Alec was the person who fired the gun.
The police said: “Sheriff’s representative for Santa Fe County was dispatched to the movie set at Bonanza Creek Ranch in the western part of the Last, on October 21, 2021, when the 911 callers reported shootings on the set.
“The sheriff’s office confirms that the two individuals were shot on Rust’s set. Cinematographer Harina Hutchins, 42, and director Joel Sousa, 48, are producers and actors. Alec Baldwin, 63, was shot when he fired a prop gun. “
“Ms. Hutchins was taken by helicopter to the University of New Mexico Hospital, where she was sentenced to death by medical personnel,” the statement continued.
“Mr. Sousa is taken by ambulance to the Christos St. Vincent Community Medical Center, where she is being treated for her injuries.”
