A bus carrying 40 schoolchildren returning from a trip to the French Alps tumbled down a wooded slope into a stream on Saturday, leaving the driver and his partner hospitalized with serious injuries, officials reported. .

Eighteen children and one adult suffered minor injuries and were being treated, said Fabian Mulik, mayor of the town of Corpse where the incident took place.

“They are all doing well,” he told the Associated Press.
