Brixton Academy suspends license with questionable future after two killed in Asasuke concert terror

The BRIXTON Academy’s license was suspended after the death of two people at the concert amid concerns it could never be reopened.

Brixton Academy receives license suspension

Council leaders have ordered venues in southwest London to remain closed until at least 16 January.

There are concerns that the building may remain closed permanently as authorities investigate whether the license will be revoked.

Lambeth Council said: ‘We are shocked and saddened by the devastating incident in Brixton on Thursday evening and are working to support our community in the wake of this tragedy.

“The Council is doing its part well in the ongoing investigation. We are determined to find answers as to why these horrific events happened.

“The venue is currently closed and we will be conducting an urgent and in-depth review of our license covering the legal conditions we must meet to operate, including public safety arrangements.”

Tragically, the day before the concert, the doting mother posted a video of one of her sons speaking and said:

“He’s made a lot of progress this year.”

Rebecca recently shared a photo of her family enjoying the snow while getting ready for Christmas.

Her family praised her for her “caring, kindness and love.”

In a statement released through Metropolitan Police, the family said:

“She was respected in the family for her care, kindness and affection. Her parents called her Toshin (short for Olwa Toshin), which means ‘the Lord is worthy.’ ”
