Businesswoman told to change tables because her 195-pound ‘trainer’ broke the dress code

Businesswoman outraged after central London members-only club ‘relegated her to corner of kitchen’ as £195 leather ‘trainer’ broke dress code

A businesswoman was told to switch tables at an exclusive members’ club because her £195 black leather Russell & Bromley ‘trainer’ broke the dress code.

Lisa Gordon, chairman of Cenkos Securities, vowed never to return to New York City. London Club staff asked her to move out, citing her “flat form” with no laces and white soles.

She and her guests were moved to a table in “the corner next to the kitchen,” The Sunday Times reported. Its website states that “denim, sportswear and trainers are not permitted at any time.”

This was after Liz Truss ditched her heels and bought Reese’s £138 white sneakers at this month’s Conservative party convention.

Mrs. Gordon is not a member of the club, but her lunch partner is.

A club spokesperson said: “Members inviting them will be reminded that they are responsible for informing guests of the dress code.”
