Constance Marten, 35, and Mark Gordon, 48, appeared in Crawley Magistrates Court on March 3 and were also charged with concealing the birth of a child and perverting the course of justice.
The couple spoke only to confirm their names, dates of birth, and a short hearing to confirm they had no fixed residence.

Police confirmed the baby was a girl and was said to have been named Victoria.
A post-mortem examination performed on March 3 was unable to determine the cause of death for baby Victoria, but further tests will be conducted.
The case has been referred to the police oversight body by the Metropolitan Police Department, and the Independent Police Action Service said in a statement, “We are currently evaluating the referral and determining further actions, if any, necessary for us. ” he said.
Marten and Gordon are not required to file indictments and are next scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on March 31.
