Did you receive the Mystery Amazon Package you didn’t order? It may be a scam

You opened the door to the Amazon package, but don’t you remember ordering something? You may be the victim of a “brushing” scam. But don’t worry. You haven’t done anything wrong and you won’t be charged anything.

Over a million British households may have been victims of “brushing” after receiving a mysterious Amazon parcel designed to raise the rankings of third-party sellers.

Which is the consumer group? He said there were concerns that the number of households reporting receiving the Mystery Amazon package at their home address had not ordered and was not sent by a known person.

Watchdog believes that third-party sellers rely on Amazon’s highly competitive product search ranking system. This prioritizes products with high sales volumes and high reviews.

At home, it is reported that they have received cheap items to ship in bulk, such as magnetic eyelashes, eyelash serum, toys for pets and children, Bluetooth accessories, iPhone cases, Frisby, and medical gloves.

Some sellers take the scam one step further by creating a fake Amazon account linked to the recipient’s address, “buying” the item themselves, and leaving a positive fake review.

Which one? From cheap electronics to beauty products, he said he heard from victims flooded with items that they knew nothing before it appeared at their doors.

What to do if you’ve been involved in Amazon’s brushing scams:

– Report the incident to Amazon’s customer service team.

– The advice on Amazon’s website is to donate or dispose of the items you receive.

– If you decide to keep or donate an item, it’s worth your attention. Which is the reason? Earlier, I discovered the safety and security issues of cheap electronic devices purchased from the Amazon Marketplace.

This scam questions questions about how consumer personal information was found and raises concerns about the environmental impact of unwanted items.

According to a survey of about 2,000 people by Watchdog, 4% of respondents, or an estimated 1.1 million people who are expected to grow nationwide, say that they or someone in their family received such a package.

Of the respondents who received the mystery parcel, 63% said they kept it, 28% threw it away, and 16% gave it up.

Which one? Rocio Concha, Director of Policy and Advocacy, said:

“Amazon needs to do more to investigate brushing scam cases and take strong action against sellers who are trying to mislead consumers.”
