Antony Albanese said it was typical of Mr. Morrison’s government. Especially as the Liberal Party Prime Minister claims to lead a government that “takes the border seriously.” He states: “In the beginning, they said it was not their responsibility to issue visas by the Australian Government, and this could all have been avoided.
“The government says it takes the border seriously and the visa issue seriously.”
Albanese further noted the double standard that applies to ordinary Australians and his shock that Morrison did not anticipate the controversy.
He states: “There are people in this community who know that they tried to get a visa for their mother, father, aunt, uncle, and children to come to Australia.
“If you return from India to Australia at some stage, you may remember that some Australian citizens are threatened by prison conditions.
“But for some reason, the issuance of Novak Djokovic’s visa by the Australian Government surprised the Morrison government that this was controversial.”
Comments from Australian Labor leaders came shortly before a court hearing on whether Serbian tennis stars could stay in the country.
Albanese added that not only did the federal government take a long time to respond to the crisis, but it could not explain why the visa was clearly issued against its own rules.
He states: “And the idea that this is unclear coming, and after the draw was held late Friday afternoon on the weekend before the tournament began, we finally say it all to the federal government. ..
Immigration Minister Alex Hawke, who approved the cancellation of Djokovic’s visa, said he admits that the recent Serbian infection with Covid was genuine.
Hawk added that the number one in the world is “the risk of infection is negligible and therefore poses a negligible risk to the people around him.”
However, he continued to argue that his presence in Australia could “strengthen” the feelings of opposition to vaccination among a small number of Australians.
Djokovic’s legal team dismissed it as “irrational” and “irrational,” and the minister did not provide evidence that tennis stars would raise their opposition to vaccination.
