Emma Raducanu, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic discover Wimbledon sowing | Tennis | Sports

Emma Raducanu was handed the 10th seed slot in this year’s tournament after the world ranking dropped on the famous Wimbledon grid.

Historically, the All England Club had the freedom to move players up and down relative to their global position to reflect a particular aptitude (the absence of it) in the grass.

The process stopped a few years ago, but nevertheless, this year’s tournament feels unfamiliar given the number of famous Russian and Belarusian absentees.

Sabalenka Arnya is absent to explain Wimbledon’s top seed and world’s No. 1 Swiatek Iga, No. 11 Raducanu’s No. 1 rise.

Estonia’s Anett Kontaveit is the second seed and avoids Iga until the final as the main name for the other half of the draw.

Men’s draws have a more dramatic impact, there is no world. 1 Daniil Medvedev went out for his no sanctions. 2 Alexander Zverev is also injured and missing.

That means there is no world. 3 Novak Djokovic is in the lower half of the draw in a familiar area as Topseed, whose main name is Rafael Nadal.

The highest ranked Brit in both draws is Cameron Norrie, the ninth seeded, but Dan Evans is no. 29th place.
