The four fathers were charged with murdering their wives in front of their children 20 years ago after being handed over from Pakistan.
According to prosecutors, Zafar Ikubal, 61, is currently being detained by police after lengthy efforts by multiple agencies to transfer him to the United Kingdom.
Ikubal’s wife, Naziat Khan, was found strangled in her family’s South London home in 2001.
Kahn, who died at the age of 38, has been married to Ikubal for 16 years and the couple had four children.
Ikubal left Streatham after his death 20 years ago and appealed for his delivery from Pakistan.
Today, the Metropolitan Police Department states: “A man handed over from Pakistan was charged in connection with the murder of Naziat Khan in Streatham in August 2001.
“Zafal Ikubal, 61, was handed over from Pakistan on Tuesday, September 14.
“After arriving in England, he was taken to a police station in western London and later charged with murder.”
He will appear in the Croydon Magistrates’ Court via Videolink on Wednesday, September 15.
The public prosecutor’s office said:
“The delivery was the result of a collaboration between Met, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Foreign, Commonwealth Development Agency, and the National Crime Agency.”
