Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe takes his adorable baby boy, four months, to the SAG-AFTRA picket line in NYC alongside longtime partner Erin Darke as they lead stars striking against studios and streamers

Daniel Radcliffe looked every inch the doting dad as he stepped out with his four-month-old son strapped to his chest in a light grey baby carrier while joining the SAG-AFTRA picket line in New York City on Friday afternoon.

As he fought for living wages amid inflation and protection from artificial intelligence (AI), alongside his longtime partner Erin Darke, the Harry Potter star, 33, could be seen gazing down adoringly at his little one, who wore a black and white striped hat and dinosaur-print onesie.

While he was spotted pushing a stroller twice in April, just weeks after becoming a father, this marks the first time that the couple’s bundle of joy has been seen in public.

For the occasion, the English actor, who recently raved about parenthood in a rare remark about his personal life, cut a casual figure in a blue t-shirt, matching ‘Toronto Maple Leafs’ baseball cap and grey pants.

His other half, best known for her role as Cindy in the TV series Good Girls Revolt, wore a white and black ‘SAG-AFTRA’ tee, green cap and a pair of black tie-dye leggings.

Earlier this month, Radcliffe gushed over life as a new father during an interview with ET while promoting the season 4 premiere of his TBS series, Miracle Workers.

‘It’s great. It’s crazy and intense, but he’s wonderful and Erin is amazing. It’s a real privilege also to have this time with him,’ the Emmy nominee said. ‘I was always going to take some time off, which not everyone is able to do, and so I’m able to kind of just be here with him a lot, which is lovely.’

He added: ‘So, we’re having a great time.’

Daniel admitted going forward he will be more selective with the projects he takes on so he can spend more time with his son.

He said: ‘It hasn’t really yet affected things, but I really like spending time with him, and I think I’m gonna miss him when I go back to work later in the year,’

‘So, I will definitely be I think a bit more selective — not more selective, I’ve always been selective, but I think I’ll probably work a little bit less for the next few years.’

‘I’ll never be stopping. I don’t think that’s good for me either,’ he continued.

He and Erin met while working together on Kill Your Darlings in 2012 and have been together for more than a decade.

Daniel spoke to People about the first time he met Erin in 2020, saying: ‘It’ll be a hell of a story to tell our kids one day because of what our characters do with each other’ referring to a sex scene the couple has in the film.

He continued: ‘Our characters are meeting and flirting with each other, so there is this kind of sweet record of us just meeting for the first time and flirting.’

The arrival of Daniel and Erin’s first child was confirmed in May when DailyMail.com shared exclusive pictures of him pushing their newborn in a pram through New York.

‘They told their families and friends recently. It’s an incredibly exciting time.’

While a source added to The Sun: ‘Daniel is so excited to be a dad. His relationship with Erin is really special and everyone thinks they will be amazing parents.’

‘They have kept it pretty quiet up until now but she can’t hide her bump anymore.’

SAG-AFRTA, which is the union representing over 160,000 actors, is on strike at the same time as WGA, which represents 11,000 writers.

The last time both actors and writers were on strike together was in 1960, when Ronald Regan was the Actors’ Guild president.

WGA has been on strike since May 2.

The strike was authorized after SAG-AFTRA failed to reach a deal with some of the biggest studios in Hollywood, per CNN.

Actors on strike are calling for higher wages as well as protections against artificial intelligence.

Blindspot star Jaimie Alexander held a sign, which read: ‘Residual payments are not problems’ in NYC

SAG-AFTRA – Screen Actors Guild Federation of Radio and Television Artists – announced Thursday morning that negotiations from studios had ended without a deal.

They were asking for higher pay to counteract inflation, as well as changes to how actors earn residuals – which are earned every time a show they starred in airs on network or cable.

The reason why they are asking for changes to residuals is because streamers like Disney Plus and Netflix do not disclose viewing figures for their shows and offer the same flat rate for everything on their platform.

Another element is Artificial Intelligence – and studios using their digital likeness without their permission or proper compensation.

The union leadership voted for a work stoppage to begin at midnight after their demands were not met.

Under the rules of the strike, members of SAG-AFTRA cannot promote anything, take part in any press to promote a project, or film a movie or TV series.

This also includes this month’s Comic Con in San Diego.

Fan Drescher, who is the current president of SAG-AFTRA announced the strike last Thursday.

‘We demand respect! You cannot exist without us!’ she said.

‘What happens to us is important. What’s happening to us is happening across all fields of labor.’

Power in numbers: Timothy Olyphant (L) and writer Victor Fresco joined members and supporters of SAG-AFTRA and WGA on the picket line at Amazon Studios on July 21, 2023 in Culver City

‘When employers make Wall Street and greed their priority and they forget about the essential contributors who make the machine run, we have a problem.’

‘The jig is up, we demand respect,’ The Nanny actress said.

In a statement following the strike announcement, the Association of Motion Pictures and Television Producers said it was disappointed in the breakdown in negotiations.

‘This is the Union’s choice, not ours. In doing so, it has dismissed our offer of historic pay and residual increases, substantially higher caps on pension and health contributions, audition protections, shortened series option periods, a groundbreaking AI proposal that protects actors’ digital likenesses, and more,’ the group said in a statement.

It said it had agreed to ‘the highest percentage increase in minimums in 35 years, a ‘substantial increase’ in pension and health contribution caps and an 11 percent increase in one year for background actors, stand-ins and photo doubles and an additional 17 percent increase for background actors required to do extensive self-styling.

Those who are required to deliver lines during a run-through and photo doubles who are required to memorize and deliver lines on camera would get an additional 62 percent increase under the proposal.

But Drescher said the two sides remain ‘far apart’ on ‘so many things,’ citing excessive payouts to top executives as the studios ‘plead poverty.’

Having both high-profile actors on the picket lines along with writers will generate good PR for the strikers, which will in turn incentivize the entertainment companies to come to the table, Paul Hardart, director of the Entertainment, Media and Technology Program at NYU’s Stern School of Business explained.

‘I do think SAG going on strike expedites things,’ he said. ‘I think you’ll see pressure from external forces — whether it’s the governor of California, the president of the United States — moving this along.’

But, he admitted, ‘I could be completely wrong.’
