IOne of the intolerable people who realized that the blockade was far from terrible. I’m one of the lucky ones and I’m grateful to be able to continue working, but even that happy habit of counting your blessings is what the pandemic has shown us the way. I felt the benefit of slowing down my life. The key to my happiness is getting a good night’s sleep after a long absence. I generally put this in a blockade that suits me and wore the device in bed for sleep apnea. This keeps the lower jaw slightly forward and the passage open. Sure, it’s not the last word of romance, but it’s not sleeping next to someone who sounds suffocated several times at night.
All these factors are related to my well-being, but the important thing came to me only this week: I know my daughter doesn’t do much. I wrote before As for how a colleague told me when I was first born, when you become a parent, you will never really sleep properly again. How true has it ever turned out to be? My eldest son is in college and younger is doing her A level. If you turn off the lights at night, you will find that they are safe and healthy inside each house. Usually they can go anywhere and know what to do in heaven. It’s no wonder I slept badly. Actually, I wonder how I slept. It wouldn’t be until morning to know if they survived the night before. I didn’t arrive in the morning. I used to wake up at a small time to check my phone. I thought the bladder awakened me, but it wasn’t – it was my children. And if the text from them wasn’t there, much more sleep was unlikely.
My mother says that to this day she can sleep properly only on the very rare occasions when my brother and I are with her under the same roof. We are both in their 50s. Her birthday is August and I think the rules will change by that time. So my plan is for her son and five grandchildren to all appear at her place and spend the night there. Only one night we all sleep soundly.
