IWP takes the lead in D2C arm with mother-daughter advice company

Independent Wealth Planners (IWP) has acquired Yorkshire-based mother-daughter financial planning company Acuity Wealth Management.

The acquisition continued the group’s rapid expansion, increasing its assets under its control by £ 85m and adding an additional 228 customers.

Acuity will be the founding representative of IWP Advisory Services, a consumer channel.

IWP Advisory Services provides independent financial advice to clients who are unable to reach their local office or who prefer to effectively deal with advisors.

This marks an important step in the development of the IWP Group.

Acuity is headed by Janet Comrie and her daughter Sarah Dougal.

This is one of the few independent mother-daughter advice practices in the UK.

The pair, both financial planners, have been working together for over 20 years. They have accumulated over 50 years of financial planning experience among them.

These are supported by four administrative staff and one paraplanner, all of whom remain intact as part of the acquisition.

IWP has rebranded Bartholomew Hawkins Asset Management

Janet Comley, Sight Director and Financial Planner, said: “By partnering with IWP, we can offer our clients the best of both worlds.

“Locally personalized services are invaluable because the relationship between advisors and clients is built on mutual trust.

“This acquisition means that the close relationships we have built with our clients can be complemented by the size and resources of IWP. With its centralized support, we focus on helping our clients achieve their financial goals. You can increase the amount of time you can do. “

Daniel Bisby, head of the financial services team at law firm Schofield Sweeney, acted on behalf of Acuity throughout the acquisition.

In February, IWP increased its presence in Scotland. Acquisition of financial advice company Sutherland Independent Ltd..
