Lidl has announced plans to create 4,000 new jobs across the UK by the end of 2025 after adding new stores to the expansion.
The German discount chain is expected to reach 1,000 stores by the end of 2023, but is currently planning an additional 100 stores in town centres, retail parks and metropolitan areas. Christian Härtnagel, Chief Executive Officer of Lidl GB, said: We continue to work on our physical store strategy and maintaining our store opening pace. One store per week for the next four years. “We continue to provide high quality products with unmatched value to more communities across the country, and we look forward to welcoming more colleagues to the Lidl GB team.” Lidl GB Since opening its first store in 1994, it has grown steadily and now has more than 26,000 employees, 880 stores and 13 distribution centers. The news follows this month with the announcement that supermarkets will raise wages by 6% from March 2022. Entry-level wages will be raised from £ 9.50 to £ 10.10 per hour outside London and from £ 10.85 to £ 11.30 within the M25. Other benefits include increased salary over years of service, enhanced vacation eligibility, and a 10% discount on colleagues. As part of the Schwartz Retail Group, which generated more than € 125 billion in revenue in 2020, Riddle employs more than 341,000 people worldwide and currently operates approximately 11,550 stores in 30 countries.
