Louise Minchin applauds the newsroom for the final BBC breakfast

The emotional Louise Minchin was applauded in the newsroom the last time she hosted the BBC Breakfast.

The 53-year-old presenter first appeared on the broadcaster’s flagship morning news show in 2001, joking that she was leaving to escape a tough early start.

At the show on Wednesday, Minchin revealed that her BBC pass had already been revoked and she was locked out of the office.

Before co-host Dan Walker shared compliments from those watching at home, viewers were shown a video of her walking in the newsroom and applauded by her colleagues.

Minchin said in the message, “Embarrassing, humble and weeping.”

To the viewer, she said: It was really hard. We all felt that we were part of the story together and shared history. It’s great to be here. “

She added: “As they say, some people literally grew up looking at me.

“And I’m really honored to be in that position and have worked here all the time.

“There were tough days and tough stories, but it was great and I was really impressed with everything people said.”

Minchin confirmed that she would leave the program in June.

Minchin, who told Miller about her decision this week, said:

“I’ve been working for the last 20 years, so I just thought,’I can’t face winter anymore.’ I have about 6 weeks to go to work, which is light. That’s the 6 weeks I found. The easiest. “

Minchin covered a series of major global news articles of her time at the BBC Breakfast, including general elections, Brexits, coronavirus pandemics, and terrorist attacks.

She also interviewed celebrities such as the Duchess of Cambridge, singer Billie Eilish, and naturalist Sir David Attenborough.

In 2019, she hosted an awakening campaign for menopause after revealing that she was suffering from hot flashes during a live television broadcast.

She also started endurance sports after participating in the BBC Breakfast Christmas Cycling Challenge and continues to compete internationally for the GB Triathlon team in her age group.
