Merton CIL receives grants to provide health support

An organization received “massive” donations to address poverty and inequality and promote the independence of hearing-impaired and disabled people living in Merton.

The Merton Independent Living Center (Merton CIL) was awarded £ 247,300 by the Citybridge Trust Awards.

In the next 5 years City Bridge Trust City of London Corporation’s charity funders will help Merton CIL provide health support and work to resume housing advisory services in late 2021.

Merton CIL aims to address the alienation of hearing-impaired and disabled people and make a “true difference” between Merton and the wider community.

Stuart Butler, Advisor & Advocacy Services Manager at Merton CIL, said of the grant:

“This grant allows us to work with even more local hearing-impaired and disabled people to better meet their current needs.”

Giles Silson, Chairman of the Citybridge Trust, commented:

“It is a charity that makes informed decisions about issues that affect deaf and disabled residents’ ability to build financial security and resilience, improve their ability to live independently, and affect their lives. It means you can do more to help you do it. ”
