What is blocking the US plan to return to the moon? Discussion over pre-flight meetings.
NASA administrator Bill Nelson says that plans to return Americans to the moon by 2024 cannot be finalized until the proceedings against the space agency filed by Jeff Bezos’ space company Blue Origin are resolved. The proceedings allege that NASA should not have chosen Elon Musk’s SpaceX to build a lander that would carry astronauts to the moon.
Specifically, the proceedings rely on a comprehensive briefing on all aspects of the Space Mission, the “Flight Preparation Review” or FRR. These are done just before the launch and represent the final approval to proceed with the mission.
