Network Rail Staff and RMT Members to Strike Again in November | Rail Strike

Network Rail workers threaten to stage new strikes amid bitter disputes over wages, employment and conditions, bringing new disruptions to the service.

Railway, Maritime and Railway Members shipping Trade unions (RMT) will go on strike on November 3, 5 and 7.

In another dispute, RMT members London The Overground and London Underground will go on strike on November 3rd.

The union accused Network Rail of trying to impose “dramatic changes” on staff working practices, writing letters directly to staff to “undermine sensitive discussions.”

RMT General Secretary Mick Lynch said:

“On the one hand, they were telling negotiators they were ready to make a deal while planning to undermine the negotiations by imposing unacceptable changes to the terms of the contracts of the members.

“Our members are outraged by these duplicative tactics and will likewise respond with sustained strike action.”

Network Rail Chief Negotiator Tim Shoveller said:

“Unfortunately, the RMT leadership appears to be intent on a more damaging strike rather than have its members vote on our proposal. We will continue to negotiate in good faith.

‘Our sector has a £2bn hole in the budget and far fewer passengers are using our services. We have a deal on the table ready to execute only when the opportunity is presented to our employees.”
