Northern Ireland Coronavirus: Details of Further Restrictions Relaxed Starting Today

Many mitigations have been implemented in Northern Ireland to limit coronavirus.

This means that the previous 15-person limit for private home rallies has been lifted.

In addition, indoor venue spectators no longer have to sit down during the performance from today.

Large house parties and rave remain banned, and in some environments, such as shops and public transport, face masks are still required unless a person is exempted.

Beginning October 31, further restrictions will be relaxed, including the reopening of nightclubs and the termination of social distance rules regarding hospitality.

Since then, the need for social distance has also moved to guidance, and people are urged to minimize face-to-face contact.

“It takes decisive and joint efforts throughout society to bring us here,” said Prime Minister Paul Givan.

He said it was right to “get captivated” from the relaxation of some restrictions, but said people should continue to adhere to the remaining rules.

Deputy Prime Minister Michelle O’Neill warned: COVID-19 Still, it poses a threat to “life, livelihoods, and our medical services.”

“We have a joint responsibility to keep making choices that keep our community as secure as possible,” she added.
