Over 80 VCs gather in Belfast to peruse early-stage products

Over 80 venture capital investors met some of the best start-ups and scale-ups across Northern Ireland at a two-day event hosted by Catalyst.

In the Inbound Investor Program, Belfast hosts a variety of external venture capitalists, family offices and syndicates.

Among the well-known investment companies that meet the innovative technology founders of Northern Ireland is Ada Ventures. Amadeus Capital Partners, Deep Bridge Capital; Downing LL; Draper Esprit; Foresight Group; Forward Partners; Fuel Ventures; IQ Capital Partners; Mercia Asset Management; Octopus Ventures Ltd; Per Equity; and Play Fair Capital.

According to Catalyst, some VCs have already invested in companies in Northern Ireland, but many VCs are first interested in local companies and are coming to Belfast, ready to explore investment opportunities.

Investors included early-stage professional seed enterprise investment scheme funds, early-stage investors in pre-revenue companies, and growth investors looking to grow companies with more than £ 1 million in revenue. They include experts in media, consumers, women-founded businesses, clean technology, transatlantic, social impact, health and life sciences.

Companies founded in Northern Ireland that participate in the panel and match investors include Cattle Eye, We Are Paradoxx, Statsports, Lightyear, Trimedika, B-Secur and Locate a Locum.

Alan Watts, director of funding for Catalyst and organizer of Inbound Investors, said he was hungry for Northern Ireland start-ups.

“Over the last few years, there has been a growing interest in innovative and potential Northern Ireland companies from the UK and international VC communities, secured by companies such as Sidequest, Cloudsmith, Cumulus Neuroscience and B-. You can see it in some of the funding rounds. Please be secure for the last 12 months, “he said.

“Inbound investors have seen the largest number of funders ever come to Northern Ireland at the same time, and more global aspiring companies meet one-on-one, the path to potential financing. It represents a great opportunity to accelerate. The VCs in attendance are interested not only in the companies they are currently sourcing, but also in building relationships for potential rounds in the future. We hope that many transactions will result from the established connections. “
