A Guide to This Summer’s Unmissable Cycling Events

Cycling is one of the best workouts for your body. It helps reduce the likelihood of chronic illnesses as you age, including arthritis and diabetes. Since it is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, it’s easy for anyone to take it up as an alternative to spending time at the gym. One of the best things about hopping on a bicycle, however, is that it has the potential to help not only the cyclist but others as well. Throughout the year, there are several cycling events where participants can ride their bikes for a charitable cause. Many of these events take place during the summer and include trails appropriate for all difficulty levels, from the freshest beginners to the most advanced cyclists.

Here are some of the ones you should keep in mind if you want to try something new this summer and help your community at the same time.

London to Brighton

This iconic bike ride takes place on the 18th of June, 2023. The distance is roughly 54 miles, and the registration fee is £25. The fundraising aims to raise £300 for Action Medical Research, the charitable organisation funded in 1952 to prevent disease and disability in young children and babies. The starting point is Clapham Common, with the finish located by the Brighton seafront.

Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel

Taking place on the 2nd of July, this event includes 31,000 cyclists. It has been classified as one of the most important amateur cycling events in Europe, so if you’re an enthusiast looking for a challenge, you can’t miss out on this one. At £350, the price is significantly higher than in the case of other events. However, when you pedal through the Dolomites, you’ll quickly discover that it was all worth it. The Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel also secures funds for Action Medical Research, intending to improve the quality of life for as many children as possible.

London to Paris

Given the considerable distance, this event takes place over a few days. Between the 19th and the 23rd of July, you have the possibility to join one of the best cycling adventures in Europe. The journey is nothing short of picturesque as you pass through the Kent countryside, crossing the Channel and arriving in the mediaeval villages and quaint market towns scattered across Northern France. When you reach the Eiffel Tower after spending several days on your bicycle, you’ll feel a sense of particular relief that comes from achieving something you’ve worked on quite a lot.

RIDE Vyking

On the 4th of June, you can participate in this Yorkshire event. You can choose between three distance options: the 41, 70 and champion 100 miles trails. It all depends on how much intensity you can take and your fitness level. Mechanical support, medals, medical assistance and feed stations are also included in the event.

London – Paris Gravel

This event occurs between the 20th and the 23rd of July. The registration fee is £100, and the fundraising target is £1,800. The route will take you from Esher to Newhaven, to Dieppe, then to Vernon and finally to Paris. It can seem like quite a lot to spend all this time in the saddle, but by the time you’re done, you’ll be confident that this is a one-of-a-kind experience.

Cycling feels excellent, and it helps you stay healthy. When you participate in specialised events, you also help your community and feel a complete sense of achievement.
