Janette Manrara of Strictly Come Dancing has resigned and announced as a professional partner to replace Zoe Ball as host of BBC Two’s spin-off It Takes Two.
The 37-year-old American dancer and choreographer will share hosting duties with her debut last year, Lylan Clark Neil, at a weekday sister show.
Ball resigned as a presenter in May after participating in the program for 10 years on behalf of Claudia Winkleman in 2011.
Manlara’s new role means she’s leaving strictly, and a new professional dancer in 2021 will be announced shortly.
She released the news for BBC One’s The One Show, saying: I don’t want to be well because I’m doing a lot today, but that was the hardest part of accepting this amazing honor of participating in It Takes Two.
“It’s a realization that I’m no longer on that legendary strictly dance floor, but I think this is the most beautiful and natural advance.
“I’m still part of the Strictly family. I’ll continue to meet fellow pros and continue to dance as they say. I’ll find a way to keep dancing.”
She added: “I must honestly say that I am very excited to be given this opportunity. When I think about it, I think of the phrase,” If you have the courage to chase your dreams, all your dreams will come true. ” Walt Disney said so.
“My mother and dad, and my family back in Miami, were immigrants from a small Cuban family. They came and now my daughter is hosting a major dance show here in the UK.
“They couldn’t be proud. I couldn’t be so honored to share this with such a great group of people.”
Manlara joined Strictly in 2013 and made her debut while dancing with Welsh fashion designer Julien Macdonald.
She later became Jake Wood (2014), Peter Andre (2015), Melvin Odoom (2016), Aston Marigold (2017), Dr. Lange Singh (2018), Will Bailey (2019), and last year ( In 2020), we partnered with HRVY.
She reached the 10th week, twice in 2017 and 2015.
Eve Winstanley, Executive Producer of It Takes Two, said:
“Her love and passion for all of dance will bring something new and fresh to the show.”
Alex McLeod, BBC Daytime and Early Peak Commissioning Editor, said:
“I don’t think anyone is better than Janet to do this. I’m very excited about her joining our It Takes Two family.”
Strictly speaking, I will return to BBC Two in the fall.
