A crown replaces a peacock in the Christmas lights at Bond Street 2022 in tribute to the Queen

Starting November 17, 93,652 energy-friendly LEDs will be lit as part of the new look for 2022, replacing the peacock feather lights that have lit up along the road for the past eight years.

Katie Thomas, director of Bond Street, said the new design “will be inspired by the radiant splendor of the Crown Jewels and the world-famous and revered jewelery houses that have settled Bond Street for centuries. I’m here.

“The concept and planning of our new Christmas lights began in early 2021 to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee and the longest reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.”

The light-up will start on November 17th.

The crown can be seen at each major junction of Bond Street and was designed to look like the crown of the British Empire.

There is also a light ‘intersection’ along the length of the road, straddling the ‘old’ and ‘new’ sections of Bond Street in the style of a necklace. These are a tribute to the Queen and the history of jewelery design in the region.

Another feature is oxford street The end of New Bond Street and the Piccadilly end of Old Bond Street form a tiara-like gateway.

Organizers of the plan have moved forward with mourning after the Queen’s death on 8 September.

The royal theme pays tribute to the street’s namesake, Sir Thomas Bond, who chose the location for its proximity to St James’ Palace. Today, Bond Street and St. James Street have more Royal Warrants than any other part of Britain.
