UK Weather: Heat warning in effect today, 30C sun expected before thunderstorm warning

  • Know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and what to do if you or someone else gets heat stroke.
  • Avoid the sun during the hottest hours of the day, from 11am to 3pm.
  • If you plan to do physical activity (such as exercising or walking the dog), plan to do it during cooler times of the day, such as in the morning and evening.
  • Keep the house cool by closing the windows and curtains in the rooms that get the sun.
  • If you do go out, cover yourself with suitable clothing, including a suitable hat and sunglasses, seek shade, and apply sunscreen regularly.
  • Drink plenty of fluids and limit your alcohol intake.
