Travel will be confused if Spain and Italy are on the new “watch list”, the minister warned

Travel turmoil will be caused by the government putting Spain, France and Italy on the new “amber watch list,” the minister warned.

In a basically agreed plan this week, vacationers reportedly warned that destinations could move from the amber list to red without warning while they were away. Report the mirror.

This means that families returning from vacation at some of their most popular destinations can be forced to quarantine the hotel when they return to the United Kingdom at a cost of £ 1,750 per person.

A source with a white hole told the Daily Mail:

“If you’ve already booked to go there, you’ll spend the entire vacation worrying about whether you need to dash to the airport to get home.

“Next week’s decision will basically be made in August. It’s the peak of the holiday season. Will it really bring so much confusion to so many people?”

Spain and Italy are in the midst of a claim that they may soon join France on the “Amber Plus” list. This means that even fully vaccinated vacationers need to be quarantined at home upon return.

Data expert Tim White believes the government may announce that Spain will be added to the amber plus list next week.

This is due to NHS test and trace figures showing that 2.9% of people arriving from Spain to the United Kingdom between July 1st and 21st were coronavirus positive.

Mr White said: “What’s even more worrisome for Spain is that 3% of the samples had variants that weren’t widespread in the UK, so my analysis is bleak from the data.”

He described the decision on Spain’s status as a “huge call” by Secretary of Transportation Grant Shapps. Spain is the most popular tourist destination in the UK.

“I don’t know that Spain will turn red, but the infection rate is so high that in reality the amber plus could also apply to the Spanish islands,” White added.

Spain is currently on the amber list. This means that a fully vaccinated traveler does not need to be quarantined for 10 days when returning to the UK.

Moving to Amber Plus removes the quarantine exemption.

France is currently the only country in that tier, but there is speculation that France will be promoted to amber when the government updates its travel list on August 5.
