City of London police have arrested a man this morning in Islington, north London, on suspicion of intently possessing an offensive weapon and causing serious bodily harm in an attempted burglary.

Colin Bishop, Interim Chief Detective Inspector for the City of London Police’s Major Crime Team, said a man was killed by detectives investigating “a number of serious crimes linked to an attempted robbery and knife attack” at Bishopsgate last Thursday. He said he was arrested.
“He was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery, willful bodily injury and possession of an offensive weapon,” he said.
“He is still in police custody.”

A forensic officer was seen outside 22 Bishopsgate, where the stabbing took place on 6 October.
A woman in a purple coat and long floral dress was one of the heroes of her time and bravely intervened to stop the robbery.
She then gets into the middle of the action and bravely pushes one of the robbers away from a man who was attacking her in the street.
She is then seen confronting one of the other criminals and pointing to where he injured her arm before walking away.
The red-jacketed courier was also one of the main heroes of the day, helping to stand up to both robberies.
He also stopped them from pounced on the men who were pushed to the floor.
Officers were reported to the Bishopsgate incident at 9:46 a.m. and arrived at the scene just five minutes later.
Three people were stabbed and another injured after being “pushed to the floor” in the carnage on the streets of the capital this morning, according to witnesses who tried to prevent the theft.
The three non-life-threatening victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and an investigation was launched by the Serious Crimes Team.
Detectives are appealing for the appearance of witnesses.
City of London Police previously said the attack was not being treated as linked to terrorism.
