VIPs visiting the UK in euros are exempt from quarantine regulations

Visiting football VIPs may reportly be exempt from self-quarantine rules upon arrival in the UK, with plans to allow them to participate in the Euro 2020 finals.

According to The Times, the government is approaching a compromise that requires Uefa and Fifa officials, politicians, sponsors and broadcasters to agree to participate only in football matches, effectively a “bubble”. I have fallen into.

Many VIPs are expected to enter and leave the country on the same day or stay overnight at hotels that are block-booked for tournaments, the newspaper reported.

The government announced on Tuesday that more than 60,000 football fans could compete in the semi-finals and finals at Wembley if they proved negative on the Covid-19 test or double-vaccinated.

Uefa is believed to require 2,500 VIPs to participate in the finals of the July 11th tournament without being subject to the quarantine requirements that apply to other international travelers.

The government and Uefa are discussing travel restrictions, saying UK sources are “positive” and “final details under consideration”, but the minister said some restrictions will continue to be enforced. ..

Earlier reports suggested that the final could be moved to Budapest if an agreement could not be reached. Italy’s Prime Minister Mario Draghi also said Rome could offer an alternative location.

However, in a statement, Uefa said: “Uefa, the UK FA and the UK authorities are working closely together to stage the Euro 2020 semi-finals and finals at Wembley. There are no plans to change the venue for these matches.”

Meanwhile, UK travelers continue to face restrictions on vacationing abroad.

The number of participants in the closing match of the tournament at the stadium has increased to 75%. This could see the audience for the largest sporting event in the UK since the start of the pandemic.

All ticket holders must submit evidence of a negative coronavirus test or double vaccination 14 days prior to the game.

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden said:

“We have worked very closely with Uefa and FA to ensure that strict and rigorous public health measures are in place while allowing more fans to see the action live. ..

“The final promises to be an unforgettable moment in the recovery of the people from the pandemic.”

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said the match “will show that London cannot be beaten when it comes to great sporting events,” urging Londoners to follow Covid’s rules during the tournament.

Mark Bringham, Chief Executive Officer of FA, said: “We hope this program will be the basis for the safe return of fans at stadiums across the country next season.”

The match forms part of the Government’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), which saw test events held at sports, music, and other venues to assess the impact of the crowd on Covid-19 infection rates.

The announcement was made the day after Covid-19 was expected to be further lifted in the UK, before the Prime Minister delayed it by up to four weeks amid concerns over Delta variants.

This meant a continuous restraint on other events in the UK, such as weddings, where the size of the guest list depends on the number of people the venue can safely accommodate.

Some couples planning to get married this week have expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing restrictions while a large sporting event welcomes the crowd.

ERP-based pilot events allow the Royal Ascot Racecourse to welcome up to 12,000 spectators per day, while the first week of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships is limited to half the normal capacity of 21,000. Will be done.

Other test events include the FA Cup final at Wembley, the Brit Awards and the World Snooker Championship.
