London Tube, DLR and rail closures this weekend: what’s shut on 19–20 September

Planned engineering work will close parts of the Tube and DLR across west and east London this weekend, according to TfL’s published programme and weekend travel guides.

West London: District and Piccadilly lines

• District line: No trains run between Earl’s Court and Ealing Broadway/Richmond on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September. Mildmay line services between Gunnersbury, Kew Gardens and Richmond are the suggested alternative, and replacement buses operate.
• Piccadilly line: No trains between Hyde Park Corner and Acton Town from about 1.30am on Saturday and all day Sunday, including Night Tube.
• Barons Court: Westbound trains are not calling at the station until late 2026. TfL advises passengers heading west to travel one stop back and change.

East London: three DLR closures at once

TfL’s DLR improvement programme lists three simultaneous closures this weekend: Bank to Lewisham, Tower Gateway to Canning Town, and Stratford to Canary Wharf. The work is essential maintenance and testing of new DLR trains.

Journeys involving Canary Wharf, Lewisham, Bank, Stratford or Tower Gateway may need the Underground, Elizabeth line, buses or National Rail instead.

Planned works can overlap with unplanned faults, so check TfL Go or the live status page on the day, and allow extra time for replacement buses.

TfL’s planned closures list (dated 11 September) also shows:

• 28 September to 1 October: Weaver line, Hackney Downs to Chingford, after 22:45
• 3–4 October: Elizabeth line trains will not stop at Acton Main Line, Hanwell and West Ealing after 23:00 on Saturday until 09:00 on Sunday; Windrush line trains skip Canada Water; DLR closed between Tower Gateway and Shadwell on Sunday 4 October
