Mrs. Downes-Clack’s body was found five days after she went missing, and Clack was arrested and charged with innocent murder.
He went into a rage after collecting her from work when she threatened to leave him.
Upon returning home, he beat her with black and blue before strangling her in front of her two-year-old daughter.
He then stuffed her corpse into a suitcase and drove it up a hill overlooking St. George’s, Grenada’s picturesque capital.
So he buried the case in a 3-foot-deep trench.
Clack’s attorney, Anselm Clauden, said, “Mr Clack was overjoyed, but a typically reserved Englishman. He may have celebrated with a glass of port.
“I understand that the British High Commission has assisted in making arrangements for his return.”
