Author Sophie Heawood launches public appeal to help find a young mother from Hackney who has gone missing

Author Sophie Heawood has launched a public appeal to help find a mother from Hackney, east London who has gone missing. 

The Hungover Games writer issued the plea on X, formally known as Twitter, calling on anyone with information to contact the police.

Vanessa, who was last seen in dark top and leggings in the Richmond Road area near to where she lives, is said to have gone missing on Saturday and has reportedly not been seen since. 

Photos online show the missing mother with blonde hair and blue eyes. Anyone who has seen her is urged to get in touch with the police by contacting 101.  

Sharing a photo of the missing woman, known as Vanessa, she wrote: ‘A friend of friends, a mother, has gone missing from London Fields, Hackney.

Ms Heawood shared a photo of blonde-haired Vanessa wearing a green patterned top alongside what appears to be doorbell camera footage of the missing woman walking along a residential road.

Tom Gatti, who is the executive editor of culture, books, ideas and print at the New Statesmen, tweeted: ‘Looking for our friend Vanessa from Hackney, who has been missing since Saturday morning.’

Others have also taken to social media to help with the search. One said: ‘Vanessa has been missing since yesterday morning (Saturday 11am) please could any Hackney folks (and east London) share this in local groups?’

Another added: ‘Vanessa has been missing since 11am Saturday 23rd Sept. Last seen in the vicinity of Richmond Road where she lives, wearing a dark top and leggings.

Ms Heawood is a bestselling author who wrote her memoir, The Hungover Games: A True Story.

The book details Heawood’s life as a single mother working as a celebrity interviewer in Hollywood, living off the Sunset Strip before moving back to East London.
