Camden: Cyclist dies in fatal crash with truck

The victim was riding his bicycle down Fitzroy Street in Fitzrovia in the morning when he was hit by a truck. Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 7:53 am, and the London Air Ambulance Service was also dispatched.

Despite first aid by doctors, the man on the bike was not saved. His next of kin got a call from the police.

A road closure was implemented on Fitzroy Street, traffic jams were reported from Maple Street to Howland Street, and congestion continued on Tottenham Court Road.

The BBC reports that this is the first time a cyclist has died in the city this year. Witnesses told the BBC that the truck struck the cyclist while making a left turn.

No arrests have been made so far, but detectives are urging anyone with witnesses or dashcam footage to contact the Serious Crash Investigation Unit on 020 8246 9820.
