Emergency services were called to Canterbury Road at 5.12pm yesterday (Thursday, November 2).
London Ambulance Service sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer and a medic in a fast-response car.
London’s Air Ambulance was also dispatched.
A man was treated at the scene for a head injury before being taken to hospital as a priority.
His next of kin have been notified.
A crime scene is in place and urgent police enquiries are ongoing.
No arrests have been made.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
“We were called yesterday (2 November) at 5:12pm to reports of an incident at the junction between Canterbury Road and Mitcham Road, Croydon.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, and a medic in a fast-response car. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated a man at the scene for a head injury before taking him to hospital as a priority.”
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to Canterbury Road in Croydon at about 17:47hrs on Thursday 2 November following reports that a man had been found with serious injuries.
“On arrival officers located a male with serious head injuries. He has been taken to hospital for treatment where he remains in a life threatening condition.
“The man’s next of kin have been notified.
“A crime scene has been put in place at the location and urgent enquiries are ongoing.
“At this early stage no arrests have been made.
“Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD5601/2Nov.”
