Stevie Nicks pays tribute to her ‘best friend in the whole world’
Stevie Nicks has sent a personal tribute to Christine McVie, describing her as “my best friend in the whole world.”
The US singer and fellow Fleetwood Mac member said she didn’t know McVie was ill until Saturday night and wanted to see her in London.
“A few hours ago, since day one in 1975, the whole world was told my best friend had died,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
“I didn’t even know she was sick… until late Saturday night. I wanted to be in London. I wanted to go to London, but we were told to wait.
“So one song has been swirling in my head over and over since Saturday. I thought I might be able to sing it to her, so I’m singing it to her now.
“I knew I would need these words one day…that’s all I can do now.”
Nicks then shared the handwritten lyrics for Haim’s song “Hallelujah,” adding:
