F1: Alex Albon withdraws from Italian GP due to appendicitis, Nick de Vries replaces Williams

Albon attended practice on Friday and finished 10th in FP2 and 11th in FP1, but felt unwell on Saturday morning and was forced to pull out of the weekend and undergo surgery.
“Williams Racing can confirm that Alex Albon is currently being treated for appendicitis after feeling unwell this morning and seeking medical advice from the FIA and local hospitals.
“Following this, we can confirm that the team’s reserve driver, Nick de Vries, will drive in place of Alex for the remaining races. italian grand prix weekend. Alex is doing well and the team wishes him a speedy recovery. “

De Vries started for Williams in FP1 at the Spanish Grand Prix and completed a similar assignment for Aston Martin at the Italian circuit this weekend. De Vries finished the team’s first practice session in 19th place.
De Vries, 27, also replaced Lewis Hamilton in FP1 at the French Grand Prix in July and has been linked with a seat at Williams next year, with Nicolas Latifi’s team still in place for 2023. Not confirmed.
It will be De Vries’ Grand Prix weekend racing alongside Oxford-based team Latifi.
Albon, meanwhile, has his sights set on his next race at the Singapore Grand Prix, which takes place over the weekend of 30th September to 2nd October.
