Florida judge says transgender influencer Nikita Dragan must stay in men’s prison
A Florida judge has told transgender influencer Nikkita Dragan that she will have to remain in the men’s prison where she was held after being arrested for walking around a hotel naked.
Footage from a 26-year-old bail hearing shows the Instagrammer, who was born male but is legally female, Determine if Mindy Grazer can be moved to another unit.
Glazer failed to comply with the request, stating “I’m not making the rules,” before saying that the prison should have placed Dragan elsewhere in the unit.
Dragan was taken into custody after Goodtime Hotel staff called the police and described a person as “extremely disorderly” and “causing a commotion”.
According to Miami hotel staff, Dragan was walking around the pool area naked, and when police arrived, she doused them with water. She was arrested and charged with felony battery against a police officer.
Dragan was then sent to the men’s unit at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and was released without bail on Wednesday.
A representative for the influencer said her imprisonment in the male unit was “extremely disturbing and dangerous.”
Despite the complaints, according to NBC News, Dragan’s arrest affidavit states that she requested to be recognized as a man.
The Miami-Dade County Department of Corrections has not commented.

Dugan could be seen broadcasting to a bail hearing Tuesday afternoon in a red prison uniform.
When Judge Glazer listed her bail conditions, Dugan asked about her prison accommodations.
“Your Highness, let me ask you a question,” Dragan said. “Look, do I still have to be in the men’s unit here?”
Judge Mindy Glazer said, “Yeah, I’m not making rules there. But they should be making proper accommodations for you. You should be elsewhere.” “
It is unknown if Dragan was placed in another area.
The influencer kissed the camera at the end of the hearing, which saw Dragun broadcast remotely.
The Instagrammer allegedly walked around the hotel pool area naked and threw water at hotel staff and police.
Dragan was then sent to the men’s unit at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and was released without bail on Wednesday.
Dragan representatives expressed dissatisfaction with the imprisonment decision in a statement.
“The situation of Nikita, who is legally a woman, being placed in the men’s unit of a Florida prison is extremely disturbing and dangerous,” Jack Kezoyan said.
“This decision, taken by the Miami-Dade County Department of Corrections, is in direct violation of protocols mandating that transgender inmates be sorted and housed based on safety need and gender identity.”
“Nikita has been released and is safe now. Thank you for respecting her privacy during this time,” he added.

Despite Dragan’s legal status as female, her arrest affidavit said she wanted to be “recognized as a male.”

Dragan’s prison profile lists her as male, despite her legal status as female.

The Miami-Dade County Department of Corrections has not commented on the decision to include Dragan in the men’s unit.
Her arrest affidavit showed that she was arrested after hotel staff complained she was walking “naked” in the hotel’s public spaces and she threw water at hotel staff.
A security guard escorted her to her room, where loud music was playing, and the security guard allegedly told the star that she needed to stop or leave the hotel.
Dragoon then allegedly slammed the door in their faces, but soon after opened it again and asked the guard, “Do you want more?”
She then allegedly brandished an open water bottle at police officers and hotel security, “causing the water to hit and spill.”
Starr was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County with a $5,000 bond, but was later cleared.
