I was ‘attacked’ by a seal while surfing and broke my leg – broke my shin in two

One surfer recounts his horror of breaking his leg while a seal was “attacking” the waves.

Nathan Phillips, 42, felt his leg hit the back of the leg it was attached to after his shin snapped in half.

“I dodged it—I think it was just playing around—but the wave crashed into me and sent my board up my shin. I just started screaming in pain.”

Nathan was dragged to the shores of Portthleven, cornwallby his companions.

The 6’2″ surfer added:

“It was very painful and I had to wait longer for an ambulance after I couldn’t get in.”

One friend said, “He’s such a good guy, we just wanted to do what we could to help him.”
