Sailing is a great hobby! | | This is Local London

I have been sailing for 7 years and love it. I think you will too. Here’s how to participate:

When people think of sailing, they usually think of huge ships with very complex systems. Taking years to learn and often in terrible conditions, actually starting to sail has never been easier.

In the UK, the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme works in stages. Stage 1 is great for beginners who want to start learning skills like tacking (rotating) and rigging (building a boat), working on more advanced skills such as: Use multiple sails, recover from “capsize”, etc. Moreover, courses are held all over the country and can be done on lakes, reservoirs, rivers, canals and the sea!

If you are on a large double hand boat such as the Argo or Fever, I think sailing is a great activity because working as a team can improve your hand-eye coordination. Exercise!

If you really enjoy sailing, you can move towards teaching. The main route is to take a day’s “pre-assessment” and then attend his week-long Dingy Instructor course. This course covers teaching styles and how to help at different levels. .

You can find courses in your area on the RYA website. Courses tend to run during his May-October season, with a few exceptions.
