Police investigating Brixton house fire leave woman fighting for her life
Thirty-five firefighters responded to the Ramillies Close fire on Sunday. The first floor and part of the roof of the terrace house were destroyed.
Firefighters wearing respirators rescued a 75-year-old woman from the first floor. She was taken to hospital by a London ambulance crew suffering from smoke inhalation.
Metropolitan Police Department She said she remained in a life-threatening condition. Her next of kin was informed.
A 72-year-old man also left home and was taken to hospital after inhaling smoke. His condition is not life-threatening to him.
The brigade was called in at 12:08pm and the fire was under control by 2:50pm.
Firefighters from the Clapham, Brixton, Wandsworth and West Norwood Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the London Fire Brigade and the London Metropolitan Police.
