Scott Methven, 48, said he had a ‘brief exposure’ while playing bagpipes outside on a windy morning windsor castle And the Queen later said she joked about the incident.
“One very windy morning, while performing at Windsor Castle, my kilt was blown off, temporarily exposing me as a ‘true Scotsman’.
When he returned to the castle, one of the Queen’s aides joked about the incident.
He added: “Later, as I was escorting Her Majesty the Queen, she asked me if it had been a particularly cold morning.”
The Queen’s personal piper, Scott Methven, 48, accidentally revealed he was a “true Scotsman” when the wind lifted a kilt in front of her.
The former pipe major was the Queen’s personal piper from 2015 to 2019, performing outside the windows at 9am daily at various palaces as part of the royal family.

He left the Army in 2019 after 25 years of service and now teaches bagpipes.
Mr Methven said:
“Working with her gave me a sense of her sense of humor and how easy it was to talk to anyone.
“On the first day of my assignment, when I was a little nervous, Her Majesty asked me if I was calm.
Methven said he was “briefly exposed” while playing bagpipes on a windy morning outside Windsor Castle, and said the Queen later joked about the incident.
“When I replied that I was lost in the palace, she laughed and said that Princess Margaret was always lost when she was a child.”
The Queen, who was famously petite at about 5 feet 3 inches, also joked about Methven’s height.
He said: “She once joked that she was the first piper to have a post I didn’t have to respect. She was 5 feet 6 inches tall and Jibe.
Mr. Methven was the fifteenth Queen’s Pied Piper after the role was created by Queen Victoria in 1843 and enjoyed the sound of bagpipes at Taymouth Castle during her holidays.
He previously spoke about the Queen’s personal kindness to him and his family after his wife Morven was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
The couple’s children were allowed to stay at Balmoral Castle and were cared for by a royal nanny, with Mr. Methven taking care of his hospitalized wife, and their five-year-old son Fergus (Core) playing with Prince George.
Mr. Methven was the fifteenth Queen’s Pied Piper after Queen Victoria created the role in 1843, enjoying the sound of bagpipes at Taymouth Castle while on vacation.
The Queen also sent the nurse on duty a basket of strawberries and muffins. Mr Methven said her son had often told the Duke of Edinburgh about her love for Akaris.
Following his wife’s diagnosis, he said the Queen told him to “put family first.”
He said: ‘I was standing with the Queen, and she said, ‘If you are not here in the morning and do not blow your bagpipes, I know you are away. Don’t wait to ask someone out, if your family needs you, go home, because family comes first.
“She grabbed my arm again and said, ‘You know Pipes. If anyone has a problem with it, tell me I said I could go.'”
Methven went on two tours in Northern Ireland and Afghanistan before leaving the Army in 2019 and now teaches bagpipes.
