Around 5pm on Monday, emergency services rushed to the scene in Stamford Hill, north London, after the accident.

Video posted on social media showed police cars, firefighters and a number of ambulances crowding the A31 site.

Paramedics from the Jewish ambulance service Hatzola also treated victims at the scene before an ambulance took the two girls to the hospital.

The girls’ next-of-kin have been informed, Metropolitan Police told The Sun.

Gruesome footage on social media shows bystanders holding up blankets to stop the public from seeing the horror.

One eyewitness wrote on Facebook: “I was told that when I was there, a bus hit a car and was run over by two schoolgirls.

“I have never seen so many police and ambulances in my life.”

Another person added, “The bus was run over by a group of people.”

London’s Metropolitan Police told The Sun that a bus and motorcycle collided at the busy intersection of Amherst Park and Stamford Hill.

A police spokesman told The Sun newspaper: “The pedestrians, two girls believed to be 14 years old, were taken to hospital.

“One of the girls is believed to have been seriously injured. Their next of kin has been informed.

“Police officers are at the scene, along with the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance. They were assisted by the Hatzorah paramedics.

“A bus driver and a motorbike driver stopped at the scene.

“Roads are blocked and drivers are being asked to find alternative routes.”

Police said no arrests have been made and inquiries are continuing.
