Blackwall tunnel closed for over 8 hours: man arrested
A man was arrested yesterday after the Blackwall Tunnel was closed for more than eight hours.
Police were called shortly after 12:00 p.m. on Thursday (January 19), concerned about the welfare of a man at the top of the Blackwall Tunnel.
Emergency services were present and the road was closed to ensure the safety of the man and the driver.
Shortly after 8 p.m., the man was arrested on suspicion of public indecency and taken into custody.
Roads have been reopened.
The Blackwall Tunnel connects the London Borough of Tower Hamlet with the Royal Borough. Greenwich.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
“Police officers were present with the London Fire Brigade.
“The road was closed to ensure the safety of the man and the driver.
“Just after 20:00, the man was arrested on suspicion of public indecency and taken into custody.
“The way is open again.”
