A Police-Rented Vehicle Parked at a London Event Sparks a Bomb Scare

At an event in Central London that the Israeli envoy would have attended, Bedfordshire police had to deal with a bomb fear when someone parked one of their rental cars nearby. Five of its windows had been smashed by the time officers realized they were dealing with an unregistered vehicle.

The Bedfordshire police are understood to have rented the black Nissan but failed to put a police logbook in the vehicle’s window to show that it was safe.

On Tuesday morning, the Israeli ambassador, Tzipi Hotovely, was scheduled to go to an event at Westminster Central Hall. Wes Streeting and David Lammy and the Labour peer Lord Levy were among the other visitors.

An insider confirmed that cops shattered the vehicle’s windows but denied that there had been an explosion under control. According to him, “The car was a rental vehicle [and] it was not owned by the Metropolitan Police Service.”

According to the spokesperson, “Police got a signal for a suspicious car on SW1, just after noon, and an investigation was launched.” After arriving, the car was investigated by officers with specialized training.”

A police representative for Bedfordshire stated the force utilized the automobile in a London-based operation. The Bedfordshire police could not verify with the automobile rental firm that anyone had rented out the vehicle in time to prevent the windows from being damaged.

Following the blast in a taxi outside a women’s hospital in Liverpool, the terrorist danger level was raised from “significant” to “severe” the day before the bomb scare. The increased threat rating indicates that an assault is considered “very likely.”

Previous Scares

It’s not the first time a police error has resulted in a bomb scare.

In 2017, a bomb squad in Workington, Cumbria, detonated a controlled explosion on a car parked outside a police station there by a colleague.

Bystanders didn’t know that an off-duty police officer had taken care of the car’s ailing occupant before parking it outside the station for them.

In 2014, a part of the Wolverhampton Wanderers football stadium was immediately evacuated when a police officer placed a fake explosive in a box by accident 2014.

Importance of Enhancing Home Security

The bomb scare also makes it imperative to take proactive action to our security, especially in the current state of global insecurity.

No one wants to believe that they could be the victim of a home invasion or robbery, much less a terrorist attack, but the unfortunate truth is that it does happen.

Improving home security is vital. You can rest easy knowing that your home and possessions are more protected than ever before. With enhanced home security, you also increase the value of your property if you ever plan to sell it.
