November Meeting: Favorites and Predictions
The Cheltenham Festival is among the top most prestigious horse racing events in the world. Along with the Royal Ascot and the Grand National, it is one of the UK’s three biggest festivals in the sport. While the official start of the Cheltenham Festival is October, the true beginning comes on November 11. This is when the three-day November Meeting gets its start.
What is the November Meeting?
An unmissable, exciting three-day event, the November Meeting holds some of the most important, popular, prestigious, and highest-paying races of the Cheltenham Festival. The BetVictor Gold Cup is the most popular, however, other popular events include the Champion Hurdle, the Queen Mother Champion Chase, the Stayer’s Hurdle, etc.
Due to the event’s popularity, a ton of online betting sites cover the November Meeting. Paddy Power and BetVictor are two sites that sponsor events. However, there are quite a few more websites where you can find Cheltenham free bet offers, and get ahead of the competition.
Another way to get ahead of the competition, is to take a look at the early favorites to win the various events. So, in this article, we are going to take a look at these early favorites, and make some predictions about their chances.
Mucking Brilliant Paddy Power Handicap Chase
The Mucking Brilliant Paddy Power Handicap Chase is possibly the most popular event of the 1st day of the November Meeting. In 2022, it will be held on Friday, 11 November, with a starting time of 13:50. It is a 2m, race, and the three horses that are considered the favorites are Editeur du Gite, Stolen Silver and Bun Doran.
Editeur Du Gite is an 8-year-old Bay Gelding, currently owned by the Preston Family, Friends & T Jacobs. He is trained by G. L. Moore, and has won 4 out of the 13 Chases in which he has competed. He has only competed in 2 Hurdles, however, has won 1 of them and finished 2nd in the other.
Stolen Silver’s odds have been placed at 5/2. He is younger than Editeur Du Gite by a year. At 7 years old, he has won 2 Chases, 2 Hurdles, and 4 Rules Races. If you are curious tolook at interesting facts about Cheltenham, Stolen Silver is sired by Lord Du Sad and damed by Change Partner.
Bun Doran is the last horse we are covering for the Mucking Brilliant Handicap Chase. At 11 years old, he is certainly the oldest favorite. However, this might come as a sort of con. After all, while he has the most experience, he also has not won many of the races in which he has competed.
BetVictor Gold Cup
As many as 45 entrants are going to run during the BetVictor Gold Cup Day. So, it isn’t surprising that odds are tight. However, the horse with the biggest shot at the trophy, as of now, is Kylemore Lough. One of the oldest horses competing in the tournament, Kylemore Lough has both experience and stamina on its side.
The horse has raced in 21 Rule Races, 15 Chases, and 6 Hurdles. In total, the horse has won 16 of these races, 5 of which were chases, 3 hurdles and 8 rules races. If you are curious to know more about the 2nd day of the Meeting, there are lots of needed November Meeting facts are here.
The Greatwood Hurdle
The last day of the event is often called the Greatwood Hurdle Day, after the most important race of the day. From the past few years of the event, we can gleam certain things about the future victor of the event. For example, there seems to be a pattern between winning the Greatwood Hurdle and getting 2 career starts in a higher class race.
Another trend seems to be that male winners are much more likely to win. However, this might have something to do with the fact that male horses are far more likely to compete in the event than female ones. Over the course of the events history, over 200 horses have been male (and 20 of them have been winners), while only 12 have been female, and have produced 0 winners.
